And now for something completely different.

We were driving down the road, the rain beating down on top of the car as we sped alone. Jesus I wanted her, I'm pretty sure she wanted me too. We had been waiting so long although I'm not sure either of us realized that. We had been going back and forth all evening, trying to sit and talk. Every time we got close I saw her teasing, fleeting smile. Just when it seemed we might have a moment alone, somebody would come in laughing and red from too much drink, and tell us all about how things were when they were young and in college and all the other things that people older than us would feel the need to point out. We weren't children anymore, but we were close enough for them to tell their stories, and every story would come at just the wrong moment. But finally, just as I was giving up on the night, she leaned against me and whispered, “Would you like to give me a ride home?” I had shivered a little bit at the sensation of her breath on my ear, and without hesitation said yes.

I looked over at her when we came to the next red light, no longer lost in the events of the evening.

Suddenly my lips were brushing against hers, my hand rose up and brushed her hair away from her delicate ear. I bathed in the glory of her skin, pulling her against me as my hands slid down her back, feeling the cotton bunch up as my fingers closed. Pressing our lips together until I felt a pressure I hadn't been away of, start to fade, until the honks of the horns behind us, startled me out of the beautiful moment. I pulled away reluctantly, and the car started to move forward once again

I wanted to just pull the car off to the side of the rode, to continue what we had started. But I knew that moment was gone. It was frustrating to be so close to her, to have been where I wanted to be, and have that moment snatched away. But on the other hand, I knew she felt the same way now, and it was exhilarating. Then just as we were picking up speed, she leaned in close to me and explained, “Just now, we took a step in a very,VERY, good direction.” The dark green blurs of trees whipped by in the heavy rain. The soft whoosh sound that tires make as a car moves on a damp road provided the soundtrack to this ride, the orange glow of streetlights provided the mood lighting. It seemed more like a scene from a movie than something that could actually be happening to me. This beautiful woman was actually here with me, this woman I had been dying to meet, who I had known for years without realizing what she was, what she could be to me.

Dark buildings whipped past the windows as we continued on the road to Bothell. Every chance I got, I snuck a look at her. Her hair was curled behind her ears, and she was looking out the window, lips pursed the tiniest bit in thought. I followed the slender line of her neck down to the cotton t-shirt she was wearing. She had taken off her coat and revealed her arms, the tender spots on her neck that I could use to make her moan in pleasure if I got another chance tonight.
